A cross-sectional study was conducted in semi-arid farming zone and arid pastoral zone in Kitui County to understand livestock production constraints and factors influencing food security.

This paper uses the Ensemble Average General Circulation Model (GCM), at 50% probability and SRES High Emission A2 Scenario to assess the impacts of climate change on maize farming in Kenya; synonymous with other sub-Saharan African countries.

The study recommends that the tea factories should explore cheaper alternative energy sources and extensive free seedlings, or obtaining subsidized seedlings. The tea factories should engage tea farmers in a program of continuous supply of wood fuel based on the crop production per farmer per year.

This study employs mulching technologies to mitigate this problem.
